Guatemala has a modern highway network connecting the different regions, ports and the Mexican and Central American boarders. The roadway system is made up by 15,187.7 kilometers of paved and accessible highways for both freight and passenger transportation.
In the last 15 years, the roadway system has grown at an annual rate of 4%. Throughout such period, important improvements have been made, such as the construction of highways and expanding the main two-way roads leading to the boarders into four-lane roads.
Additionally, in the last five years, the Pacific Highway (CA-2) and Pan-American Highway (CA-1) have been repaved. |
