The Tax Administration Superintendence (SAT), Guatemala’s Tax Authority, is in charge of administrating Guatemala’s Customs System.
During its 2008 Assembly the Customs World Organization recognized Guatemala as one of the Latin American countries that more improvements implemented in its customs services. The announcement was Eleanor Thornton, a technical adviser with the WCO headquarters in Brussels.Also Guatemala was mentioned as an example of joint efforts between the government and the private sector achieving important improvements on the delay time and procedures of the custom system.

Customs Express
Tools such as an electronic customs report, a 24/7 work schedule and risk analysis produce savings in costs and time at the Express Aéreo customs house. Presently, an average 90% green light signal, along with other factors, has resulted in a 30% freight volume increase.
